William S. Mayo, DO, is a native Mississippian, having grown up in Drew, Mississippi. After graduating from Ole Miss, Dr. Mayo attended The University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1981. For the next four years, Dr. Mayo was at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he completed his ophthalmology residency, serving as Senior and Chief Resident from 1984 to 1985. From 1985 until 1988, Dr. Mayo served in the U.S. Navy as the Ophthalmology Department Head, in Newport, Rhode Island, and Pensacola, Florida. Upon completion of his military service, Dr. Mayo moved to Greenville, Mississippi, where he practiced in Gamble Brothers and Archer Clinic until 1990. Since 1990 Dr. Mayo has been practicing in Oxford, Mississippi.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Mayo has been involved locally and nationally in service. He is past president of the Mississippi EENT Society and the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association. He currently serves on the Oxford Economic Development Foundation, the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure, and the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Mayo is also an elder at First Presbyterian Church, Oxford, Mississippi.
James B. Shipp, MD, is a native Mississippian, having grown up in Corinth, Mississippi. Upon graduation from Ole Miss, Dr. Shipp attended The University of Mississippi Medical School, where he then completed an ophthalmology residency. While at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Dr. Shipp served as Senior and Chief Resident. From 2012 to 2014 Dr. Shipp was associated with Augusta Eye Clinic in Augusta, Georgia, while his wife completed her residency in dermatology.
Outside of work, Dr. Shipp enjoys many activities, including travelling, sports, and spending time with his family. He has been an avid Ole Miss Rebels fan since birth, having attended sporting events his entire life. Dr. Shipp also has an adventurous spirit, enjoying piloting airplanes and outdoor activities, including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro. He is married to Lyndsay Shipp, M.D., a dermatologist practicing at Oxford Dermatology. When not at work, they can be found spending time with their sons, James & Will.
